High Point, NC — Open Door Ministries of High Point, Inc. (ODM) is launching cooling stations to support individuals experiencing homelessness as temperatures rise. Extreme heat poses serious health risks, with nearly half of all heat-related deaths occurring among unhoused individuals.

For the second year, ODM will operate cooling stations whenever temperatures reach 90°F or higher. Thanks to support from Home Depot, the stations will now feature misting fans, improving upon last year’s water-only relief.

Cooling Station Locations & Hours (400 N. Centennial St.):

Father’s Table

Mon–Fri, 12 PM–7 PM (Beginning of lunch to end of dinner service)

  • Cold bottled water

  • Misting fans (cool air up to 20°F)

Food Pantry

  • Mon, Wed–Fri, 10 AM–2 PM (During pantry hours)

  • Cold bottled water

  • Misting fans

ODM is actively exploring weekend options to expand relief.

“Our goal is simple,” said Executive Director Ryan Ross. “To treat food and housing as human rights, and to create safe, cool spaces for our guests during extreme heat.”

How to Help: Donations of bottled water are welcomed to keep the stations running.
